In the Mountains

Thanks to a generous birthday gift from my parents, Randy and I were able to enjoy a mountain getaway for a few days.  They made the reservations for a  few weeks after my birthday so that we would miss the Oktoberfest crowds.

We loved Moose Creek Lodge!  Every detail of the cabin was crafted for rustic mountain luxury. The cabin was  built in the Adirondack Mountain style with a timber frame wood interior, hand hewn log porches,  mountain laurel porch railings, and was perfect for our getaway.

This cabin is a tribute to the incredible talent of several local craftsmen and artisans. The kitchen cabinets are handcrafted from antique wood removed from a local barn and topped with a solid copper counter top and the bathroom sink is a locally crafted pottery vessel which sits atop an antique barn wood slab.

We loved the front porch swing and rocking chairs.

And we really enjoyed the hot tub on the side porch!

On our first day in town, we spotted a young black bear. I saw another baby the next day while we were driving, but we passed it too fast for me to take a photo of it.

During our days in the mountains we enjoyed driving around and viewing the beautiful autumn foliage.

We hiked a half mile up the mountain to view Anna Ruby Falls. Which was gorgeous!

We also spent time in the nearby towns.

At night we enjoyed cozying up to  bon fires under the stars at the outdoor fire ring

It was a great week and we didn’t want to leave!

We hope to be able to be able to take the boys with us soon for a weekend getaway!
