Summer is Winding Down

We’ve enjoyed a lazy. relaxing summer.  I have enjoyed the rhythm of this summer.  We’ve been sleeping a little later than usual!  Our mornings have been used for our daily work – household chores and light schooling. Most days, after lunch, we’ve enjoyed the pool for an hour or so.  Then we’ve headed back inside to spend the heat of the day in the air conditioned comfort of the house – napping, watching movies, computer time, and such.  The late afternoons have been used for errands and lessons. We’ve enjoyed relaxing evenings sitting on the porch, going for another swim and playing catch in the yard.

Today, we begin our 2011-2012 homeschool year.  John Charles begins first grade!  Back to school means we’ll find another rhythm. It will certainly include more structure and more time dedicated to academics and extra curricular activities.  Autumn is my favorite season of the year and I’m usually excited about this time of year.  This year though, I don’t want to see the summer end.  We’ll still have another month or more of warm weather and even though summer is winding down, it’s not over yet!
