We had our Christmas Party with my Evans side of the family this weekend. Before the party John Charles was confused about whether or not he was invited because his name is not Evans.
This was a special Christmas for our family because God allowed my Daddy’s sister Dianne to spend another one with us. She was diagnosed with cancer in the fall of 2009. We didn’t know how long she would survive . Last year my Daddy and his sisters and brother allowed her to “Make a Wish”. She wanted to go to Nashville. So last December they all took a family trip to Nashville.
For a year, Dianne has lived with cancer, but been in remarkable health. This Thanksgiving she had to be hospitalized and the family was called in and given the news that she was not expected to live for more than 48 hours. Right away, the family started talking about cancelling our plans for a Christmas get together. But, at the end of the weekend we were told that she had improved so much that we might expect her to live for 3 more months. Christmas plans were back on!
It was great to be gathered together again and for Dianne to be with us for another Christmas celebration. John Charles had so much fun this year that he started asking when will we have a Hutcheson party.
That’s another story! I’m afraid Randy’s family isn’t into to celebrating. In fact, when Randy was telling his mother about the party, she asked what he got there as a gift. When he told her, she said “That’s not even worth the gas to drive down there!” Oh well, anything is better than what Zach’s granddaddy said he’s giving the boys – an I.O.U. That’s more than he’s ever given them though. Some people just don’t get it!
