Our summer activities from our Doorway into Summer have begun!
We kicked off summer with a trip to my parents’ vacation home in Mexico Beach, FL. We left last Tuesday and returned home today. It was a spur of the moment getaway and just what we needed!
We all enjoyed playing in the ocean. The first day we were there , there was a lot of seaweed near the shore line. But the waves were gentle and once we got out past the seaweed it was very relaxing floating around.
Later in the week the waves became very strong, which is not at all what we’re accustomed to seeing in Mexico Beach. At that point, I just enjoyed soaking up sun from my chair on the beach and watching the guys play. Randy and Zach liked riding the waves on their body boards and John Charles stayed near the shore playing.
At night we went to the pier to watch the sunset. We fell into a routine of stopping by a local store called Tommy T’s for ice creams or snow cones and time in the arcade each night before walking to the pier.
We had a great time at the beach. There was no oil in site, but the local news said it could arrive by this Wednesday. I hope and pray that it doesn’t
