Mama Is

My Mother’s Day poem to my Mama.

Mama Is

Mama is Estee Lauder.  She's Tide and Duncan Hines, leaving a lingering fragrance trailing her with everything she does.

She's a welcoming front porch and a comfortable rocking chair at the end of a good day.

Mama is carnations on Mother's Day, poinsettias at Christmas and seasonal decorations on the mantel and tables making every holiday beautiful and memorable.

Mama is Julie, Miss Ellen and Nana - special to everyone, no matter what she's called.

Mama is the worried mother next to a hospital bed caring for daughters with preeclampsia and diabetes.  She's the fun loving grandmother, adding joy to the lives of her boys.  She's the dependable daughter and niece, giving time and attention to the older generation.

She's be careful and have fun.

Mama is Griffin, Mexico Beach and Jesup all in one.  She's chicken pot pie, Swedish apple pie and the best tasting strawberry cake you'll ever taste.

She's breathtaking ocean sunsets, warm mountain foliage, lazy Caribbean cruises and the excitement of Times Square.

Mama is walls and walls of family photos, but very few of herself.  She's cedar chests full of treasures that belonged to Ruby and Mawmaw.  She's 3 beautiful homes adorned with lots of gifts from the people who love her most.

Mama is our role model and inspiration.

Happy Mother's Day!  We love you!
